The Kindergarten Centre at CBK caters for 30 children aged from approximately 3 years 2 months to 4 years 2 months. The light and airy purpose-built Centre offers a large playroom, a carpeted room for group times and quiet play and the recently-added Atelier, the perfect space for small-group art activities for the use of all CBK areas. The large outdoor playground area is shared with the older children at Kindy House offering a variety of equipment to challenge children in their physical outdoor play and imaginative play with friends. Kindergarten has a ratio of 1:10 with three registered and qualified teachers in the Kindergarten team.

Our Kindergarten teachers recognise that children’s social learning is hugely important in developing their resilience and providing a foundation for their academic learning. Teachers support children in gaining confidence and skills in turn-taking, negotiating and relating to others in their interactions. Children’s development of independence in their self-care skills is another important focus of learning during their time in Kindergarten.

Each child has a Profile Book which highlights their learning and exploration at Kindergarten. Children and their families enjoy sharing the Profile book and are encouraged to contribute to the Profile book also, responding to the Learning Stories or sharing information about the child’s learning at home.
